Senior DevOps Engineer
Lead client engagements end-to-end — from discovery through hands-on delivery. AI accelerates the routine work; you own architecture, review, and the relationship.
Remote (India / EU-friendly hours) Full-time Senior
What you’d do
- Run the client engagement. From discovery interviews to roadmap to hands-on delivery. You’re the senior face of the engagement, not a body in a pool.
- Review AI-generated work. Most of our routine output (audit drafts, IaC scaffolds, runbooks) is generated. Your job is the senior judgment that makes it actually correct.
- Make architectural decisions. And document the trade-offs — including the alternatives you rejected. Our clients pay for the why, not just the what.
- Pair with client engineers. Knowledge transfer is a deliverable, not a footnote. Pairing, recordings, and runbooks are part of every engagement.
- Carry the on-call. For a subset of our 24×7 managed clients, you’re the L2 escalation. Sustainable rotation, no graveyard shifts.
What we’re looking for
- 6+ years building and operating production infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Deep Kubernetes (EKS / GKE / AKS) — cluster design, GitOps, multi-tenancy, day-2 operations
- Terraform / IaC fluency — you can read a hairy module and refactor it without breaking things
- Comfort working with AI tools — Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT in the loop. You don’t ship its output unread; you also don’t refuse to use it.
- Ability to write and present — to engineers, to CTOs, and to CFOs. Different audiences, different language, same honesty.
Nice to have
- Prior consulting / contracting experience (knowing how to scope, when to push back, how to close)
- Specialty in one of: AI infrastructure (vLLM, MLOps), FinOps, security/compliance, observability
- Open-source contributions
Why CloudWizz
- Senior-only practice. No one is “buried in a pool.” Every engagement names the engineer driving it.
- AI-native workflow. We’ve built our practice around AI doing the routine work, so you spend your hours on judgment, review, and architecture — not boilerplate.
- Real ownership. You name the trade-offs. You write the post-mortem. The client knows your name.
- Open source counts. Time for OSS contributions is built into the cadence, not “personal time.”
- Sustainable pace. Real on-call structure for managed clients. No 80-hour weeks.
How we hire
- 30-min intro call with HarmanJyot (or another senior practitioner)
- Technical conversation — we walk through a real (anonymized) client problem and discuss your approach. No leetcode, no whiteboard puzzles.
- Paid trial engagement — 1–2 weeks on a real client task, paired with a CloudWizz engineer. Both sides get to evaluate.
